Isuzu Motors dates back to 1916 and is now the world’s largest manufacturer of trucks and diesel engines. Producing heavy, medium and light-duty trucks, buses, passenger vehicle engines and industrial-use diesel engines. Isuzu Motors is at the forefront of vehicle chassis and diesel engine technology.
Early Days
Founded in 1916 when two Japanese power houses joined forces for vehicle development. In 1922 the company produced the first passenger vehicle in Japan in a joint venture with Wolseley. The two Japanese power companies established Tokyo Automobile Industries Co. in 1937, eventually taking the name Isuzu Motors Limited in 1949.
The Ute
In 1972 Isuzu Motors signed a capital agreement with General Motors and the first generation ute the Isuzu Faster is released, exported all round the world. Isuzu went on to release the second generation in 1980, third generation in 1988 and fourth generation in 1997. In 2002 the D-Max is launched, seeing updates in 2010 and 2016 before all of those years of refinement brought us the D-Max yet.
